"I didn't consciously use the technques at all - but my partner was amazed at how calm and quiet i was throughout. It wasn't until my mum asked if the cd had been worth it that i suddenly realised that during my labour i'd blown up hundreds of balloons! Well worth the money and i would definately recommend it. .." Nicola Birch, UK |
What is hypnosis?
It is important to realise that hypnosis is not the same as sleep. Hypnosis is simply a heightened state of relaxation in which your subconscious mind comes to the fore. It can be likened to the experience of meditating or daydreaming whilst staring out of a train window. If you have ever been engrossed in a book or film to the extent where you are oblivious to things happening around you, it is certain that you have experienced a state very similar to that of a hypnotic trance. In this state, suggestions are accepted more easily into your subconscious mind, allowing you to make major changes in your life. Techniques used can be a mixture of guided imagery, parts therapy, NLP, timeline therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and positive suggestion, depending upon which title is selected.
It is important to realise that you will be fully aware at all times and fully in control of what is happening to you.
Is it possible to become stuck in a trance?
Not at all! Hypnosis is a 100% natural state. It is not possible to become stuck in trance. No one can stay in trance indefinitely; even if the therapist stopped talking for a while, the client's bodily functions would eventually arouse him. The worst thing that can happen is that the client may become too comfortable and fall asleep!
What if I fall asleep whilst listening to the CD?
Well, if you hear the count up at the end of the recording, you have probably been in a deep hypnotic trance and not asleep at all. This is perfect as your subconscious mind will have been absorbing all the positive suggestions. However, if you did fall asleep whilst listening to the recording, the CD will only have been effective up to the point where you fell asleep. If this happens to you, listen to the recording again when you are less tired.
Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is perfectly safe for the vast majority of people. However, if you have ever suffered from personality disorders, psychosis, clinical depression or epilepsy, please consult your doctor before using any of these products.
